South Puget Sound Mobile Search And Rescue

The Base Support Unit serves at base camp during a mission making operation as efficient and effective as possible.

The unit provides Communication including radio relay between units. We may be required to perform additional tasks or duties as assigned during a mission. We also maintain the equipment in an appropriate state of readiness for immediate deployment.

Our team must have practical knowledge of the terminology and capabilities of all units involved as well as comprehensive knowledge of equipment. Ability to keep good records and documentation while effectively organizing and/or planning during crisis situations. Ability to anticipate and improvise so as to fulfill unexpected users needs and MUST be able tocommunicate effectively orally and in writing. While remaining flexible to ride along with a mobile unit to make a team and be another set of eyes and ears on the search.

Weather conditions and time of day do not effect our operation.

SPSMSAR provides and maintains radios in the communication van which is our base of operations while on a mission. In the event the com van is out of service, base operations can be done out of a private vehicle with a mobile radio.

Members must be field qualified to participate in a mission
