About SPSMSAR

South Puget Sound Mobile Search and Rescue was formed as a non profit corporation in November 2004. The founding members noticed a gap in the coverage of search operations for the Thurston County area. The Thurston County Search & Rescue Council had ten units in the council to include ground searchers, dog units, mounted units, radio units and a 4x4 unit. What was missing was an ATV, mountain bike, EMT and mobile & base support units. South Puget Sound Mobile Search & Rescue was formed to meet this need.

Members of Search & Rescue in Washington State must complete state certified training courses and recertify every two years. SPSMSAR requires members to attend monthly meetings, usually the third Thursday night of the month and monthly training the third Sunday of the month.
