South Puget Sound Mobile Search and Rescue (SPSMSAR) is an all volunteer non-profit corporation that provides assistance to people who are lost or injured outdoors. Our organization provides Mobile Support teams to the official agencies responsible for search and rescue operations in Western Washington (County Sheriff’s Office).
Our organization specializes in mobile forms of search and rescue. Our teams include Mobile 4x4, ATV, Mountain Bike, EMT, and Mobile/Base Support. Each member of the respected team are trained with the skills and mindset to be a valuable asset to the community when called into action. Many members are cross trained in multiple teams to improve the support we can provide. All members of SPSMSAR meet Washington State law for search and rescue workers and maintain their certification though ongoing training. Our teams are committed to monthly training within their respected teams and quarterly organization training to build skills such as Wildlife Survival, Navigation, and Rescue Techniques.
We work closely with other regional search and rescue organizations and belong to the Thurston County SAR Council which includes TCSO Jeep Patrol, TCSO Mounted Patrol, TCSO Dive Team, ARES/RACES, Bloodhound Search Dogs, Olympia SAR, and WESAR. We also participate in joint training operations with other search and rescue groups in the area to expand our operational knowledge in the field.
SPSMSAR also provides local organizations event support in the form of Radio Communications, Medical Support, and other on scene assistance. In the past we have participated in events like; FOCF Bike Races, Capital Peak Ultras, Ghostmuster Fun Run, Mixx 96 Wrapping up the Holidays, and others.
SPSMSAR is always looking for dedicated people who are interested in making a difference in their community by volunteering for Search and Rescue.
Serving Thurston County, Washington and Neighboring Communities since 2004.
